I Don’t Think So

Please don’t think training is good for you, like food, exercise or sleep.

I’ve heard every excuse that includes the phrase: “I Don’t Think So.”

Will your technicians go to training? “I Don’t Think So.”

Then why did I see so many technicians at ASTE 2023 this past weekend with their owners from closed shops so they could partake in some of the industry’s best training?

You need to raise your labor rate.   “I Don’t Think So.”

Why do so many owners attend management training classes to understand profits, costs, and how much productivity and effective labor rate influence your profits and technician retention?

Review your technician pay plans.  “I Don’t Think So.”

Why were there so many networking discussions and top training done to find the efficiency and profits inside your shop so you can provide the most and best compensation in your market?

“I Don’t Think So,” equates to not being able to pay your parts bill, a hard time recruiting techs and retaining customers, and too many comebacks, just to name a few challenges you may face.

Now, I know that the majority of aftermarket professionals who receive this newsletter/blog each week don’t need this inspiration, but I know you know a peer who does. Please forward this or pick up your phone and have a tough love conversation.

Tracy and I had a great time seeing our friends and meeting so many new ones at ASTE 2023. We came home with many great interviews you will hear in the coming months. Interviews we are proud to say will help you personally and your business.

ASTE was in a new venue, much bigger and stronger as they continue to grow. We thank Dorman Training for sponsoring us.

Continued success,
