Let passion drive your success.
‘Stop chasing the money and start chasing the passion’, Tony Hsieh. Entrepreneur Tony Hsieh must know what he is talking about, he is the CEO of Zappos.com. Zappo’s is an extraordinary eTailer with a customer service culture that companies want to emulate. They drove their success selling shoes with fast and free shipping and returns. They stared with shoes and now have clothing and are a phenomenal success. . They even offer tours of their Las Vegas based company to the public.
Many companies today are driving a strong purpose before anything. Passion for what you enjoy doing is part of what makes people and companies successful. The adage that if you love what you do, you never work a day in your life stems from putting your passion to work. In other words passion and purpose makes the bottom line.
This discussion is so apropos as I think about the guests that have graced the Remarkable Results Podcast. (https://remarkableresults.biz) A very simple study of our recent guests; they LOVE what they do, are passionate to do it, their teams are engaged into their passion and their customers benefit and in turn they produce remarkable results. They have all either said what Tony said or hinted that their success comes from a strong purpose and keen focus on doing it right for their customer.
There was a great book written about Noble Purpose by Lisa Earle McLeod (Selling with Noble Purpose: How to Drive Revenue and Do Work That Makes You Proud). She laid out how purpose trumps profit and transforms companies. She discusses that Purpose is the center piece to Process, Product, People, Promotion and Profit. Basically you need all of these key elements working together that drives purpose and ultimately the dollars that sustain the business.
Much is written today on leadership and the focus on your team. Treat them right and they treat the customer right. Success just doesn’t happen; it’s not magic. It is a lot of hard work. However good culture and purpose is the glue that keeps it together and telescopes through and to your customer. And when it all works your customer rewards you with repeat business.
